Sy Tate Recognized with DAISY Award
Conway Regional Health System recently recognized Sy Tate, BSN, RN, as the latest recipient of the DAISY Award for the quick action and care he demonstrated during a medical emergency in the Emergency Department.
While working in the Emergency Department, a fellow team member accidentally began choking after food completely blocked their airway. Unable to breathe or clear the obstruction, the team member signaled for help as coworkers quickly responded.
Sy immediately stepped in and began performing the Heimlich maneuver. After several attempts, he cleared the team member’s airway, allowing them to breathe again.
“Sy saved my life that night,” the team member shared in the nomination. “He is a great nurse. I will never be able to thank him enough.”
The DAISY Award recognizes nurses who demonstrate extraordinary compassion, clinical skill and commitment to those they serve.
