Preparing for Delivery
The Conway Regional Obstetrical Unit provides 16 LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum) suites where new mothers and well newborns are cared for from admission until discharge. Newborns are monitored while in the hospital by a complex infant security system.
Conway Regional Health System offers a wide variety of childbirth classes, including a comprehensive childbirth class, breastfeeding class, baby care basics course, and infant CPR for family and friends. To learn more about these available courses visit our Childbirth Classes page.
Newborn Intensive Care Nursery (NICU)
A six-bed Level II NICU provides care for sick or premature newborns. New parents have access to a rooming-in room near the NICU, in which to care for their newborns in preparation for discharge.
Your newborn will benefit from our groundbreaking nursery alliance with Arkansas Children’s Hospital. The Nursery Alliance puts into place coordination of care between neonatologists at ACH’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and physicians in Conway Regional’s NICU and newborn nursery to help further improve the quality of newborn care.
During your stay, the nurses will make arrangements for your baby's first photo. Parents will have the option to purchase photos as well as make them available online for family and friends to see. Conway Regional partner's with Our365 to provide a web nursery where newborn's photos can be viewed with parental permission.
After your stay with Conway Regional Labor and Delivery, you and your baby’s care can continue within our health system.
A certified lactation consultant assists new moms with breastfeeding after delivery. Consultation services are available during and after your stay. Learn more about consultation services and our Lactation Services page.
