Conway, Ark (June 30, 2010) - On Monday, June 28, the Conway Regional Board of Directors approved moving forward with the planned expansion of the Women's Center and construction of a new Surgery Department at Conway Regional Medical Center. The $32 million project, the latest phase of the current master facility plan, will be the largest expansion project in Conway Regional history in terms of the monetary investment. Nabholz Construction is the general contractor and construction is expected to begin soon with projected completion in April 2012.
The board and administration had been working to secure funding for this project when issues with the economy and bond market began to arise. Now that things are beginning to level off, the board has been able to approve funding. Funding will come from three areas including the issuance of bonds, Conway Regional reserves and private donations. A capital campaign will be a key component to this expansion project similar to the 2001 In Her Honor capital campaign which helped build the original Women’s Center. Naming opportunities will once again be made available. More details will be made available in the coming months as campaign plans are further developed.
