Self-esteem seminar for young girls seeks to empower them in every aspect of their lives
Conway Regional Health & Fitness Center will host Strength, Courage & Confidence: a self-esteem seminar for young girls to empower them in every aspect of their lives on Saturday, March 14 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. All girls age 9 to 14 and their mothers or guardians are invited.
The seminar will include discussions on healthy eating and nutrition with Kellie Turpin, R.D.L.D; importance of an active lifestyle and having fun with Amy Routt, group exercise coordinator and ACE certified personal trainer; group activities and discussions for the girls led by Licensed Certified Social Worker, Sandra Stell; and group discussions for the guardians.
From models that wear a size 2 or movie stars with exceptional curves, beauty pressures are everywhere. And when young girls find it hard to keep up, low self-esteem can take over and lead to withdrawal from normal life. Research shows that six out of ten girls think they'd "be happier if they were thinner" and over 50 percent of women say their body disgusts them. This seminar is designed to empower young girls to take charge of their lives through healthy eating, staying active and having the confidence, pride and respect for their bodies to face everyday challenges.
This is an opportunity for mothers, grandmothers or guardians to support the special girls in their lives. The cost is $15 per daughter/guardian and each girl in attendance will receive a goody bag. Registration is now open; call 450.9292 ext 10 or visit www.conwayregional.org to learn more.
